Ava DuVernay and Autumn Riley

Ava DuVernay, born August 24, 1972, was raised in Long Beach California. DuVernay had a close relationship with her Aunt Denise she urged DuVernay to pursue her artistic talents and be drawn by the arts. Aunt Denise worked the night shift as a nurse, so she could follow her passion for theater and art throughout the day. The aunt introduced DuVernay the 1961 film West Side Story and DuVernay became enthralled by the film. DuVernay realized that art could be powerful in promoting political activism. DuVernay grew up with parents who were well-informed and taught her how to make use of the arts to find a way to express herself. Even though DuVernay grew up in Compton and with her extended family, she spent every summer living in Lowndes County Alabama where her father's family lived for generations. DuVernay's father recalled watching the historic civil rights march across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in the nearby town Selma Alabama. DuVernay would use the summers that she spent in the state to stimulate her film Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. DuVernay earned her high school diploma of Saint Joseph High School, Lakewood California in 1990. Following graduation, she went to her first year at the University of California Los Angeles where she earned qualifications in English and African American studies. DuVernay began to produce for the broadcast industry while she was still at school. Her internship was with CBS News at the time of O.J. Simpson trial. DuVernay remembers being assigned to look over the residence of one of the members of the jury, and then go through their garbage. When she was dissatisfied with journalistic work by the assignments she was assigned, she was inspired to start a new career in publicity. DuVernay was brought in right out of college as a junior publicist at one of the smaller studios. In 1999, she launched her own firm of public relations, dubbed The DuVernay Agency. The agency was the first to launch a variety different lifestyle and promotional networks that include Urban Beauty Collective and Urban Eye. Autumn Riley.............................Autumn Riley was born in Los Angeles United States. Autumn Riley was born under the aegis of. She is a performer, famous for American Experience (1987) and A More Perfect Union (2009). Autumn has performed the role Rose in A More Perfect Union and Anna Payne of American Experience.
