Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American television reporter, commentator anchor and commentator for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language and culture from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell started as a radio and TV reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. 1976 Mitchell was hired by WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). She became a Washington general reporter to NBC News two years later. The year 1981 saw her begin working for the White House and became chief congressional correspondent in 1988. She was named the chief White House correspondent in 1992 and chief foreign affairs correspondent for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell is a former panelist and presenter of the TV show Meet the Press. She participated as a member of a panel discussion at the 1988 Presidential Debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan who was former chairman at Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government for excellence in journalism. In 2004 in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell reported on the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988, between the terms of Ronald Reagan's second term as president. Mitchell was a reporter on a range of notable stories, including the Iran-Contra scandal, budget tax reforms and the arms control. Mitchell travelled with Reagan on numerous occasions to meet with Reagan many times to attend summits and discuss matters such as and the Iran Contra scandal.
